One year helping people with Alzheimer's and their caregivers with Tweri
The mobile application for iPhone and Android for people with Alzheimer's in its first stages, celebrates its first anniversary on World Alzheimer's Day.
Tweri is a mobile phone application for iPhone and Android phones aimed to people with Alzheimer's disease which celebrates its first anniversary on September the 21st, the World Day of Alzheimer's Disease.
This free mobile application tries to get more autonomy for people with Alzheimers disease and peace of mind for their relatives and caregivers. Thanks to Tweri, the caregiver knows where the patient is in case he leaves the safety limits stablished by means of time or distance. For this, the person only needs a smartphone with Tweri installed on it.
Tweri has meant a really important novelty for many people with Alzheimer's disease and their caregivers, a fact demonstrated by the numer of downloads of the application, which have raised until 9000 downloads this year.
During this year Tweri has collected a community of people interested in Alzheimer's and other dementias in the social networks. Tweri has more than 700 followers on twitter in its accounts in English and Spanish and 141 friends on facebook. Tweri's team tells the news about Alzheimer's, senior citizens and other related issues, offers information about events and conferences and advice and support the affected and caregivers.
Tweri has won different awards, such as the special prize from The App Date's Jury on 2011, in which Tweri was chosen amongst more than 60 candidates.
Publications as OPTICAE project and 'Redvolution: the power of the connected citizen' have recognised the importance and the innovation of Tweri for our society.
During this year, Solusoft has been improving its application with new utilities and characteristics, which turn Tweri into a more useful solution for affected, relatives and caregivers. Nowadays Solusoft is still working to improve the application. This improvements will depend on the sponsorship achieved by the project in the future, considering that, until now, Tweri has been financed by the own company.
